Apiecalypse Now! is a small bakery-operation in Leslieville, located in the East End of Toronto, where all the coffee is. Originally designed as a way to further deprive myself of sleep (I hear it is for the weak anyways) and to respond to the constant exclaiming of friends and family that I “should sell these!” whenever I take something out of the oven… I’ve decided to stay up late, call their bluff, and accept their money.
Who am I? I am a woman named Jenny (nice to meet you! Thanks for visiting!) I’m a Toronto native and dessert enthusiast. My favourite dessert is apple pie with a big scoop of vanilla coconut bliss ice cream!
I specialize in baking off-the-beaten-track goodies, with a strong slant towards sustainable ingredients (ie. no Nestle products here, or products like unsustainable palm oil or nasty processed stuff like refined white sugar or hydrogenated oil.) I also have a strong preference for certified organic foods, whole foods, and local product, when in season, as well as fair-trade and ethical sources.
About me:
I am a graduate with a Master’s in Environmental Studies so I know real green from green-wash. My research focus was on food-based social movements, and what I have found over-and-over is that people like things that taste good and they like those thing better if they also make them feel good… so those are the things I make. Delicious baked goods, but without all the evil.
Every product on the site is vegan, as organic as I can make it, dairy and egg free, and many could be adapted for specific allergy concerns, if requested. Under each item is a list of ingredients and available variations as well as add-on’s. If you need something specific, or would like to ensure that a dietary need is met, just fire me a message and we will see what I can work out.
Never get out of the boat!
